LEAK DETECTION METHOD
Leak detection with the acoustic correlator permits an analysis of the whole water main system. The method used is based on the analysis and the correlation of vibrations and not on noises detected with the geophone technology. Each pipe segment will be verified with the correlator to detect any possible leak or consumptions.
The principle of correlation : A leak emits noise which propagates along the pipe and in the fluid. The correlator analyses the transmitted signals and determines the transit time (time delay) of the noise to the sensors. Knowing the velocity of the propagation, the correlator determines the distance of the leak position from the sensors.

The correlator and the sensors benefit from the parallel combination of two (2) correlation modes (sampled FFT and Real-Time), allowing the optimalisation of different filter screening and the detection of leaks during the day. Several result graphs (based upon the same measurement i.e. the same sample section) can be displayed with the best result being highlighted. These multiple simultaneous correlations (up to 32) and the automatic checking of results convergence ensure precision of location.


We recommend the verification of a segment after rehabilitation in the event that a leak of lesser importance was concealed by a leak of greater importance.

RESULTS REPORT

Following the leak detection results and repairs executed by the owner, a computerized report will be submited. All details pertinent to the localisation and the repair of leaks will be demonstrated with the payback on the investment of a leak detection campaign. The necessary information for the report are :

The DF 6000 correlator is used with the Windows® environment - icons, menus, forms, graphs and on-line help.
With a 2Gb hard disk and a complete Windows® workstation which can do more than leak noise correlation - leak pre-localization (analysis and use of data), sectorisation (logger programming and data analysis), management and communication of results (word processing, data base)...

The floppy drive allows the transfer, back-up and sharing of data. Generated files are compatible with all conventional softwares (spreadsheet) . Connectability with all types of peripheral devices (printers, external monitors, modems...).
Leak location can be carried out no matter what the fluid : water, petroleum, steam, industrial hot water, compressed air, city gas (low and medium pressure), is effictive on all pipe materials (metal, PVC, cement), mixed material pipelines and pipes of large diameter.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
